This is a 10-month position following the school year calendar,
inclusive of teacher work weeks and professional development pursuits.
Technological proficiency with Mac hardware/software, and competency
with electronic communication methods is a requirement for the
fulfillment of this job description.
Qualifications 1. A Bachelor's
degree and a Montessori Infant/Toddler Credential required. 2. A
Master's degree and teaching experience desired. 3. Demonstrated success
motivating and supporting students in an open-ended progressive school
environment is essential. 4. An interest in and willingness to work
closely with community members (colleagues and families), in a
professional independent school setting. 5. The following
characteristics are also desirable: love of children, warm, extroverted,
highly sociable, trusting, tactful, original thinker, imaginative,
comfortable with change, able to manage conflict with calm, organized,
driven, collaborative, excellent communicator, strategically minded,
team oriented and highly ethical.
Summary of Position: The Discovery
School Lead Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission,
vision, core values, and policies both within and outside the immediate
school community. The teacher is responsible for providing a Montessori
classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of
the children in accordance with the school’s mission and vision. The
Lead Teacher works collaboratively and communicates effectively with
administration on all aspects of the program to maintain congruency
between their program level and the Board-approved mission. The Lead
Teacher is also accountable for regularly evaluating the program to
ensure the social, emotional and academic needs of children are met
according to FKC, FCIS, AMS and state licensing standards. The Lead
Teacher is professionally responsible for implementing best practice
based on current research in the field of education.

Normal Hours: 1. Monday thru
Friday that school is in session 8:00 am – 4:00 pm 2. Other hours as required and deemed necessary by the Head of School.
