Camp Policies

Health & Illness
Please note that our health/illness policy states that children are not permitted to attend camp when they are ill.    Parents will be called to pick up children if these symptoms are apparent during the morning.  Additionally, in cases of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, the child must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to camp.
Discovery’s staff strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for all children. We follow strict guidelines to the extent possible, but we do not guarantee that we can keep our environment completely free of food or other allergens that might cause a severe reaction.
What to Wear
School uniforms are not required for Camps; please have your child wear comfortable clothing as most camps are outside at various times during the day. Sandals, flip-flops, boots and "party shoes" are not allowed, as they are not safe in our environment. Additionally, it is a very good idea to apply sunscreen and bug spray every day, as most camps are outside at various times during the day. Please apply prior to arrival.
Appropriate snacks are provided during most camps. For full-day camps (9:00 to 3:00 or later) parents must provide lunch for your child. Please clearly label your child’s lunchbox with your child’s name. Lunchboxes need to be self-contained (ice packs for cold food and a thermos for hot food). Please send beverages and utensils needed for lunch.
Prior to your camp session you will receive specific pick-up and drop-off locations, routes, and directions. For the safety of all of our campers, parents, and staff please follow the directions. Many of the driveways at The Discovery School are one-way and failure to follow the correct route can result in accidents.  For some camps a staff member will get your child from the car, while for other camps you are asked to park and walk your child inside.  Again, please follow your camp’s specific instructions for safety and to ensure a smooth arrival and dismissal process.
Please arrive on time each day. If you are late for a camp day you will have to drop your child off at the school’s main entrance to be logged in by administrative staff.
