Discovery's After School Adventures Program provides our students with a variety of enrichment opportunities.

Discovery reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment, at which time refunds will be given. No refunds or adjustments will be made after classes begin. There are no adjustments, refunds or discounts for absences.

Gymnastics

Join Ms. Lauren for this class that is geared towards students who are looking for a fun and light athletic option, inclusive of stretching, conditioning, and gymnastics basics.

Afterschool STEaM Exploration Lab

Join Ms. Jane in the STEaM lab for student guided inquiry using the many different disciplines and associated equipment of STEaM. Lab will be open for students to play STEaM games, complete small projects of their choosing and use the school's STEaM assets under the guidance of Ms. Jane. Paths of inquiry can include work with: OSMO, Minecraft, board games, painting robot, small woodworking projects, Lego We DO 2.0, felt craft, beading, crochet, origami, Scratch programming, stop motion animation and more!

F.A.C.E

The Fitness and Character Education (F.A.C.E.) program developed by Mr. Kirk Farber, 7th degree Black Belt and Seminar Speaker, combines his 25+ years training of Martial Arts, jumping rope, and juggling to guarantee results in agility, coordination, focus, and timing for today’s youth. He incorporates building self-esteem and character education through public speaking on character traits during every class session. This program is for Upper Elementary, Lower Elementary, and Kindergarteners.

Dance and Musical Theater

ShiningStars Theater

ShiningStars offers an exciting dramatic play program for primary to elementary aged students that uses fun exercises and games to encourage bravery, confidence, and creativity when communicating with others. We believe what all children have to say is important, therefore the ShiningStars mission is to instill the confidence in children to clearly communicate their thoughts and feelings with the world, fearless of large crowds or intimidating settings.

MR. SHANE'S ATHLETIC PROGRAMS

 

Ages:                        K-6th

Time:                        3:10-4:10
Sessions and Price:    Session 3 - $275

 

Athletic Games- Mondays, Sessions 1, 2, and 3

Students will focus on playing a multitude of athletic games which will involve fair play, team building, leadership, collaboration, hand-eye coordination, agility, strength, stamina, and fitness.  The children will boost their confidence and self-esteem through fun, active, and challenging games.

 

Athletic Conditioning- Thursdays, Sessions 1, 2, and 3

Students will focus on running, agility, and strength training.  With a multitude of equipment to enhance each child’s fitness level and overall well-being.  Fair play, resiliency, and leadership are developed throughout this practice.  An exciting, fun, and challenging experience for all children.


Flag Football- Tuesdays, Session 3

Students will focus on basic and complex skills including plyometrics, agility, sprinting, passing, catching, and punting.  All children will learn how to collaborate as part of a team and the importance of being vocal on the field.  Conditioning will be a vital aspect in their weekly training.

There will be a 1:1 ratio in terms of child to football.

 

ART
 
Tuesday - After School Art Camp
Students will be exploring a variety of media and techniques, developing skills in drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture, with an effort to include natural and found materials and to promote recycling or repurposing of materials. Student input will help determine our direction and guide project choices, with more challenging, complex projects building on basic skills and experience. Ms. Shelley’s camps are designed to develop personal expression and creativity, encouraging individual interpretation, choice and flexibility within the structured format for a project or theme.  It is hoped that each child will experience the joy in discovering his/her unique creative voice, the reward that comes from persistence and meeting new challenges, and the fun of sharing art with peers. Camps are open to first through 6th grade.

Tuesdays, 3:15 - 5:15pm
$330 per student

Wednesday - Special Focus Art Camp
Special focus art sessions will explore different materials and media in-depth and allow students to create more complex projects building on basic skills and experience with the specific media. Camps are open to first through 6th grade.

Session 3:
March 7 - April 18 - focus on clay sculpture: creating animals
April 25 - May 23 - focus on printmaking & painting
Wednesdays, 3:15 - 5:15pm
